Frozen shoulder is the common name for adhesive capsulitis. It’s a medical condition that can cause extreme pain and a very limited range of motion(ROM) in the shoulder joint (glenohumeral socket) area. Frozen shoulder creates intense contraction of the capsule that surrounds and supports the shoulder girdle, hence its name adhesive CAPSULITIS. Although many articles and ‘experts’ will claim that the cause of frozen shoulder pain is unknown, that simply isn’t true. What is true however,is that it has a multitude of causitive factors. These include, but certainly aren’t limited to:

Any sort of injury to the shoulder area such as a strain or sprain.

Being out of spinal alignment relates to this as well and this is why seeing a qualified chiropractor is imperative in healing frozen shoulder pain.

Age,in a sense, can be a risk factor in developing frozen shoulder pain. The majority of people with frozen shoulder are women between forty and sixty years of age. This could very well be tied to hormonal changes that occur during this stage of life.

What I believe is a major factor in creating frozen shoulder in people that is not usually hit upon on most websites is the underlying emotional factor. Supressed emotions and painful memories that have not been properly processed can most certainly manifest as physical pain. The mind/body connection has been proven by both scientific studies,as of late,as well as ancient wisdom for thousands of years.
If you are interested in healing the root cause of physical symptoms I refer you to the EFT website at www.emofree.com and books by current healing/spiritual genius minds such as Deepak Chopra and Bruce Lipton.

Diabetes has been found to be highly related to developing frozen shoulder pain. It’s one more reason to control carbohydrate intake and live a healthy lifestyle to avoid this dangerous, painful condition.

Frozen shoulder starts with a stiffening, contracting effect of the shoulder area where adhesive bands are formed, restricting motion. It then proceeds through two additional stages as is shown below.

-First,the painful, freezing state. This stage normally has the highest level of acute pain. Range of motion is starting to becoming impaired, but its not nearly as stiff the next phase. Most people will claim that this stage takes anywhere from six to twelve weeks to move through but that is with the old paradigm of healing. Using the above mentioned mind/body techniques along with the proper physiological support, healing can go MUCH,MUCH quicker. Don’t suffer through drawn out pain just because it has been dubbed ‘normal’ by an outmoded modality of medicine.

-Second comes the actual frozen stage, where it gets its notorious name. The pain normally diminishes during this stage, but this is where you really lose your range of motion. Movement can be extremely limited, making it hard to even comb your hair, brush your teeth, button up your shirt,or anything else that involves raising your arm above your head. ‘Normal’ timeframes to work through this phase are usually quoted from four to six months, but again, see my above comments and don’t succumb to this unnecessary, drawn out suffering.

-Third and finally comes the thawing stage. People at large will tell you this is a gradual drawn out phase, lasting as long as,or more, than a year! Please, please read into my above mentioned information. The information for quick, natural healing of frozen shoulder pain is there, and many have already benefitted from it. That is why I wrote this article, and created this blog as a whole. To help people heal their frozen shoulder far quicker than what is currently deemed as ‘normal’ and ‘unavoidable’. With the proper shoulder physical therapy, you will learn how to stretch the affected area to speed up healing. This, coupled with the above information should have you well on the road to a full, speedy recovery.

Shoulder pain can be caused by tearing the actual muscle tissue or by straining a bit to far in your activities. This usually occurs when unanticipated pressure or yanking takes place on the area.

This of course is going to be more prevalent with folks who do not do any sort of exercise to keep their shoulders in strong, supple shape.

Without a doubt the most obvious symptom of shoulder strain is the discomfort experienced after the trauma has been incurred. Anything from a medium range of some soreness all the way to a sharp stabbing pain can be felt, depending on how bad you were injured.

Whatever you do, don't make it worse by trying to 'work through it'. While there are plenty of situations where you will need to perform specific exercises despite pain in order to heal, you first need to get an accurate diagnosis so you know exactly what needs done and what to avoid. Guessing here could, and most likely will, only cause more pain and an extended duration of the injury.

A stiff shoulder is also in this general category. It's a natural response of your body to tighten your muscle fibers in order to protect itself from further damage. Rest, apply heat, and give the area a gentle massage to help loosen things up.

To treat a shoulder strain or pull a good first idea is to use ice compression packs locally on the spot. This will help to bring down the inflammation which will not only help to heal the area faster but will also take away some of the discomfort.

Unless otherwise instructed by a qualified professional, rest the area to avoid making things worse and delaying healing.

Natural anti inflammatories such as bromelain or proteolytic enzymes taken on an empty stomach will greatly aid in pain relief, reducing inflammation, and speeding healing.

I hope you found benefit in this article on healing shoulder pain.

Shoulder pain – Common Causes

AC Joint Sprain
This happens when you take a blow or perhaps fall hard and/or at a bad angle onto your collar bone.

	Dislocated Shoulder

By far one of the most common injuries seen in the sporting community, it is especially prevelant in the 'rougher' contact sports such as karate and lacrosse. They can occur at any angel, all of which are painful!

	Fracture of the clavicle

This type of injury entails a crack in the collar bone. Normally incurred by falling or receiving blunt force onto an outstretched arm or onto the deltoid region.

	Glenohumeral Instability / Subluxation

Yet another reason to keep up with your chiropractor and stay in alignment. Pain isn't always caused locally, it can also occure from a misaligned muscle or joint in a totally distant part of the body.

	Glenoid Labrum Injury

This one comes about from destruction of the interior lining of the cavity where the arm bone inserts into the deltoid.

Inflammation of muscle attachments to the clavicle
This is discomfort along the front of your collar bone, being caused by any number of traumas to the area.

	Impingement syndrome

This occurs when the tendons and ligaments in the shoulder girdle start to constrict and band together, a very common form of this is known as frozen shoulder.

So there you have the technical details of things, the inner hows and whys if you will.

Now that you have that baseline, you can better arm yourself with the proper treatment against whatever is causing your shoulder pain.

It is crucial to make a correct diagnosis of the root cause of the problem in order to obtain the proper treatment.

Some of the more common causes follow:

-Bursitis or tendonitis of the rotator cuff

-An actual tear of the rotator cuff ( I can tell you from personal experience this one is bad! OUCH!) This is just what it sounds like, that special muscle that rotates your arm and shoulder girdle actually tears, very painful. Keep your rotators strong to prevent this from happening in the first place trust me!

-Frozen shoulder – A strange 'freezing' of the general deltoid area with intense pain. Quick, effective treatment is essential for taking care of this condition before it gets worse. Fast action is also necessary as without it, this debilitating problem can last for months if not years!

-Calcific tendonitis: New research being done by longevity/health specialist David 'Avocado' Wolfe is showing us that many problematic conditions, including pain and inflammation, is actually caused by a buildup of 'bad calcium' in the body. I highly recommend Googling for more information.

-Other causes include trauma, being out of alignment (see a chiropractor!), etc.

So to sum up, to avoid shoulder pain and stay healthy. Take care of your body and it will take care of you.

Regardless of the cause, there's always hope for a full recovery, once you know how.

These types of problems are one of the most common inflammatory conditions in modern times. Thank goodness there are quite a few different ways to help get you feeling good as new.

Being the biggest, most intricate, and most mobile joint in the entire body, the shoulder has a lot that can go wrong with it! But on the flip side of that same coin, it has the capability to be incredibly strong and versatile if you take care of it with proper diet and exercise.

Oddly enough, shoulder pain does not come from the shoulder directly in all cases!

Some good examples of this would be conditions like pneumonia and gall bladder problems, or arthritis in your neck. Heart problems can also cause pain in this area, especially on the left half of your body.

There are three main categories of genuine shoulder pain and they are:

1- Busitis – This is caused by repetitive motion that can cause the area to become swollen and very inflamed.

2- Trauma – Including things like car accidents, exercise over exertion, and extreme muscular imbalance

3- Arthritis – New research is showing that arthritic conditions are not just 'part of old age' but rather a build up of 'bad calcium' in the body. For more fascinating information, backed by real science, do a Google search for 'David Wolfe bad calcium' and be prepared to be amazed!

So take care of your shoulders, workout properly, eat right, avoid 'bad calcium' supplements and you can avoid shoulder pain for the rest of your life.

In this article you'll learn how shoulder pain can be caused by bursitis, and what to do about it.

Regular movements of the shoulder area need integrated teamwork among the socket joint, blade, collar bone, upper spine, as well as all of the related muscles.

If any of these are out of alignment painful conditions such as bursitis can develop.

This problem is an ideal candidate for chiropractic treatment.

I'm big on metaphors so let's put it this way. If your home was ablaze the first thing you would do would be to put out the flames correct?

Only then could you even attempt to repair the destruction that had occurred.

Bursitis can be like a raging fire from all the inflammation going on in your joint area. So first things first, try icing the area to cool the inflammation

Or if you have access to it, try using ultrasound to achieve a lower level of inflammation.

Very gentle, weightless, range of motion type exercises may also be implemented at this point depending on what your therapist tells you.

Seeing a chiropractor for this problem will probably entail a determination of the range of motion (ROM) of your entire shoulder girdle. If your ROM has been stifled, manual manipulation and mobilization treatments will most likely commence.

What else could cause this sort of problem?

An imbalance of the muscles could certainly have this effect. If your larger, main deltoid muscles overshadow the strength of your smaller rotator cuff muscles enough, it can create a big problem such as this.

Use of a chiropractor to realign your body and then taking care of your body with proper posture and a solid exercise program is just the ticket.

So if you are suffering from shoulder pain, regardless of if it's bursitis or something else altogether, it is always a wise idea to see a qualified chiropractor to realign your body's inner workings as a good base strategy.

By: Dr. Stephen Wander

The shoulders are designed to carry the arms with a small amount of support. There are ligaments and tendons holding the body part in a ball and socket manner. Unlike the hip joint, the shoulder is easier rotated in an all different directions. This puts great stress on the area which can cause shoulder problems.

The muscles which hold the shoulder are fairly small and stretched in comparison to other joints, therefore they can be more susceptible to dislocating and causing pain. This is the reason the shoulder is one of the most oft injured areas.

Look deeper into shoulder issues and patients may not even remember the incident which caused the pain. It could be a very timely trauma such as a car accident or sports injury. Sometimes it is poor positioning or repetitive microtrauma.

A chiropractor can evaluate and look for signs in mobility of the shoulder and neck to identify the problem. Although the arms are used so many times per day, the shoulder can become frozen or cause problems with just a slight movement. A common problem is the rotator cuff, as this can cause major pain and needs to be properly addressed.

As the shoulders are in close relation to the cervical area, which in turn is part of the spine, shoulder pain may be a secondary problem of spinal misalignment. Using one of our chiropractic evaluations, we can assess, adjust and maintain a common balance for your health. If the bones or alignment is out of alignment, then this can have a poor effect which can cause neck and shoulder symptoms. Headaches are also seen with patients who are misaligned.

Many PCP’s and physicians refer patients towards meds or surgery. Unless there is a tear, this invasive practice of surgery can further upset the balance. There are so many risks with surgery, which occasionally don’t work and medication only masks the pain. Chiropractors use experience and special equipment to find the real cause of the problem and create a thorough plan to help the body get better.

At The Spinal Correction & Wellness Center, we have properly trained massage therapists and chiropractors who can help not only with the pain but create healing for the body. Correct spinal alignment can control numerous problems ranging from joint pain, muscular pain and internal functional issues. Our patients are advised on correct nutritional needs and are given a roadmap to wellness.

Shoulder pain is often overlooked and untreated. If left for extended periods of time, muscle or cartilage can tear and cause even larger problems. Using medication to mask the pain, is only effective for a few hours before the next dose is needed. A chiropractor can assess the damage, help correct the alignment of a patient and massage the area back in to good health. Shoulder pain is generally a secondary effect of a different problem. It could turn out the neck or spine are at fault but the pain is felt more in the shoulder itself. It is important to find out what damage has been done and use a chiropractor to help fix it.

New Look at Pain Relief

“EFT offers great healing benefits.” Deepak Chopra, MD

“Where did the pain go?”, is the common response from most EFT newcomers. Properly applied, an estimated 80% achieve noticeable to complete pain relief within minutes and the result is often long lasting. No meds, surgeries or other medical interventions involved … and you can do it for yourself. You can also learn the EFT basics for free with our Free EFT Get Started Package or you can save time and dive right in to become an expert with our DVD Libraries.

Read this informative press release: Pain Relief – New “Acupuncture without Needles” Technique Reports 80% Effectiveness, Often Out-Performing Drugs

Why such dramatic relief?: EFT aims at two vital causes of pain that are largely outside the medical approach. This is why EFT often works for pain relief where nothing else will.

Cause #1 – Disrupted Subtle Energies: It has long been known that subtle energies circulate throughout our bodies and that the free flow of this energy can be vital to our health. Interrupt this energy and the result can be pain and disease. Stop it altogether and you may be headed toward death. Eastern health practices have been based on this concept for over 5,000 years. Einstein’s findings also relate to our bodies being composed of energy.

It should be no surprise, then, that repairing any disruptions in these subtle energies can lead to symptom and pain relief. Fortunately, the easy to learn EFT process allows even beginners to improve this free flow by stimulating (tapping on) certain “release points” on the body.

Cause #2 – Negative Emotions (Anger, Trauma, Fear, etc): It is a well established medical fact that our emotions trigger varying chemicals in our bodies. Joyous emotions can produce healing chemicals while negative emotions can create disease causing chemistry into our systems. For example, you may be familiar with how stress might contribute to ulcers or high blood pressure. We suggest that negative emotions may be a major cause of pain too. We have seen evidence of this repeatedly as pain subsides once negative emotions have been addressed with EFT.

Properly done, the EFT process address both of these causes simultaneously. Just read the actual cases below.

EFT is a Universal Healing Aid and expands well beyond pain management. It is easy to apply and often works where nothing else will. To get started with EFT just watch the free 7 minute intro movie on the left. You can then Learn EFT for little or no cost.
